Microsoft released a Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer trailer during its Gamescom conference today. The trailer said that “the series that defined console multiplayer… Redefines itself.”
What followed was a look at the intense action within the Arena and Warzone multiplayer modes. In addition to an extended arsenal of weapons, Spartans will also have new abilities. Microsoft is determined to make Halo 5 a very competitive place to play and that is evident with the emphasis on E-sports. The trailer even had announcers (which were on stage at the show) doing voiceovers from a recent tournament.
Additionally, Microsoft also announced the Halo World Championship which will feature more than $1 million in prizes. The video’s description also had some information about the tournament.
The Halo series has always been synonymous with console eSports and online competition. With Halo 5: Guardians we are fully embracing that legacy with the announcement of the inaugural Halo World Championship, which launches later this year, featuring over $1 million dollars in prizing. The Halo World Championship will focus on Halo 5: Guardians’ hyper-competitive Arena multiplayer experience.
Are you ready for battle? Halo 5 launches on October 27th for the Xbox One.
