It’s a secret to noone that the PS4 is an incredibly popular system worldwide. Since its release all the way back in 2013, Sony’s 8th-gen system has been lighting sales charts on fire in market after market. Meanwhile. Microsoft’s Xbox One has had to deal with taking a very distant second-place position. In a recent interview with TIME, Sony’s Global Sales Chief, Jim Ryan, gave even more insight into the difference between the two platforms.
According to Ryan, the Xbox One is behind the PS4 by up to three times over in Europe:
“…in Europe, it’s really been fortress PlayStation by at least three-to-one in unit sales.”
Over in North America, the gap is a little bit smaller between the two systems but the PS4 is still the leader:
“It’s been pleasing that in North America, we’ve been two-to-one against Xbox.”
Microsoft is hoping to make a big comeback at Sony with the release of the powerful Project Scorpio system later this year. A full reveal will take place at E3 2017 next week.
