The folks are over at Codemasters are known for their well-built racing titles. Looks like their next one will not only play well, but will also look beautiful too with the power of Xbox One X.
F1 2017 is the next racing title from the team and is set to launch in a few months. GamingBolt caught up with the Lee Mather (Creative Director) at E3 2017. According to Mather, Codemasters has been able to boost the game up to 4K and 60FPS on Xbox One X. On top of that, the game will also make use of the HDR feature, further enhancing the visual experience:
“So, we are already running on Xbox One X over in the Microsoft stand. So that’s here this year already. It’s already running at 4K and 60 frames per second with HDR enabled. It’s still early days with that build but we’ve already started to turn up some of the features.”
According to Mather, the team is trying to get the Xbox One X version to get as close as possible to that of the visuals you’ll find on a “high-spec PC”:
“We’re going to see how far we can get to being close to a high spec PC. We’ve increased the fidelity of the mirrors, so they run a higher frame rate and higher detail. Shadows can be better. Reflections can be better. See, it’s still early days for that one. But we are already running on it, and it’s here at the show.”
F1 2017 joins Microsoft’s own Forza Motorsport 7 in the 4K/60FPS category on Xbox One X. Meanwhile, Slightly Mad Studios recently admitted that the upcoming Project CARS 2 is “pushing consoles to the limits” and confirmed that while the game will run at 4K, it will not be at a locked 60FPS.
Codemasters’ F1 2017 will be speeding its way onto Xbox One, as well as PC and PS4 on August 25th.
